Well, I certainly hope your Week 4 was better than mine. None of my money picks hit, resulting in a pretty poor score. Still waiting for a week where both picks hit. If you went with Buffalo or Chicago big this week, you probably did well. If you were in the money or took first place, take a victory lap in the comments below. Tell us who you picked big and how many are in your league. Congrats to @Dave S for winning with the Buffalo all in pick, despite being a Pats fan!
Base pick score from last week: 65

Here are the preliminary base picks for Week 5. Carolina vs TB still has no line due to Cam Newton’s status. I’ve assigned a close to 50/50 probability to it. If there’s an update I will post it. Sunday update: The Car vs TB line is in. Derek Anderson will be starting at QB.

Overall, the money picks aren’t looking great this week.
Green picks: Houston over Minnesota is the best of green picks. The two NY teams I’ve colored in light green. They’re other options for contrarian picks, but more risky than the Houston pick.  Thursday update: I went ahead and colored them all full green. They’re all pretty close, and are the best picks for this week! Sunday update: Tampa is actually a borderline green pick now that the line is in.
Yellow picks: Detroit and SD are yellow picks this week, but their win probs and percent picks aren’t great. If you want to take a gamble, you can go for TB and hope Cam Newton isn’t cleared to play on Monday night. I would only do that if your league doesn’t allow changes after Thursday so everyone is locked in. Or else, better to make sure before you commit. Thursday update: As of now Cam Newton is still in the concussion protocol. Sunday update: Newton is out, the win probability is reflected above.
Blue picks: Quite a wasteland here. LA, Cincy, and Dallas are all 50/50 type picks: 50% win prob, 50% picked. Thursday update: Dallas has fallen off the blue train. Sunday update: Only Buffalo remains as a borderline blue. I’d stay away from the blue picks this week.
Overall, a tough week. But there are a couple of money pick possibilities. Good luck, and I’ll keep scouring the wire for any updates on Cam Newton.
