Superbowl Squares Analysis – Increasing your chances of winning big

Hey CPPers! The NFL season is coming to an end, and Super Bowl parties are just around the corner, which means it’s time for squares. There isn’t much strategy involved in playing squares since it’s mostly down to chance. However, there are some ways you can increase your chances of winning big money (at the expense of winning small money).

Once you’ve got your squares assigned, some numbers have a better chance of being taken than others. Business Insider did a study of 20 years’ worth of playoff games and found that the best numbers, with the highest win probability, are 0, 7, 3, and 4. They’ve provided a handy table that shows all the combinations and the chances of winning a quarter.

From Business Insider: Super Bowl Squares: What are the best numbers to have?

If you’re looking to win multiple quarters, you might want to try your luck to get the darkest blue squares, based on the grid from the Business Insider article above. Here’s a potential strategy:

Number of Squares Bought:Strategy
1Random square “A”
2Same row as A
3Same column as A
4Same row as A
5Same column as A
6Same row as A
7Same column as A
8-12Opposite “corner” of above squares

Here’s an example. The numbers indicate if you’re picking 1 square, 2 squares, 3 squares, etc.

Note: This doesn’t make it more likely that you’ll win money, it just makes it more likely that you’ll win multiple times (but less chance of just winning once).

Good luck!
